February 17, 2007 - Malibu Trancas/Broadbeach 2-17-2007
So who among us takes the weather reports with a grain of salt,better to call it off after seeing it from the wet sand than from your house. Well windy is how it started this morning, with 25 to 30 knot gusts,we oppted to hug the coast and kelp anchor on the inside, we could have made SBI no problem, trouble would have been getting back! Once the offshores settled and laid down it was down right hot 80+! Bass bite was a steady pick, ended up with 8, 7 Calicos, 1 sandbass, most fish on the 5"Rainbow fishtrap( I know, like a broken record), one Calico pounced on my Bounce balled squid lure. Nothing big for me today, best was a 2-3/4 lb Calico. Great to be on the water, Pierpont and Lebowitz took my money today, spliting my 5 spot as they both tied with a couple 3-1/4 lb fish, Marks a Calico and Pauls a Sandbass, oh well next time!We all had limits of Calicos, glad they are all still swimming! Good to see Falcon and Anacapa Bob out on the water, what a glorious February day! Till the next window, TL Rhino
