March 06, 2007 - Big Island, Kona Kayak Fishing 3-6-2007
Just got back from a week in the islands at the Kona Kayak fishing meca in Napo-opo-o. Landed fish on every outing. Mostly Roi(Peacock Grouper), some various Wrass, and too many Needlefish and Trumpet Fish. Missed a small Striped Marlin on one outing, never swallowed the bait, only would grab it make a run and then spit the bait, then swat at the bait all the way back to the kayak. Found a few more areas to go back to this summer, all our trips were out of Kealakekua Bay, paddling about 10-12 miles per trip, water temp was 76. Did have some luck on the Deep Jigging, again mostly Roi. Was joined on my travels offshore by family memebers, as we were all together to remember my Grandma who recently passed on, rest in peace Nana,we all miss you! TL Rhino
